My Seef ("we", "us") takes the protection of your personal data seriously.
This privacy policy explains what data we collect through the My Seef app and website, why we
collect it, and what rights you have.
1. Data controller
My Seef B.V. (Kornalijnstoep 34, 9403 RX Assen, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce no.
42062073) is responsible for processing personal data as described in this privacy policy.

2. What data do we collect?
Account data
- Name, email address, phone number
- Language preference and country
- Subscription information
Emergency contacts
- Names, phone numbers and email addresses of the emergency contacts you add
- Alert channel preferences (SMS, email)
Location data
- Your location is collected and shared only during an active alarm
- Outside of an alarm, your location is not tracked, stored or shared
- Location data is automatically deleted 7 days after the alarm
Device data
- Bluetooth identifier of your safety pendant
- Pendant battery percentage
- Push notification token, used to send notifications
Alarm data
- Time, duration and status of alarms
- Delivery status of notifications (SMS, email, push)
- No message content is stored: messages are sent from templates
Order and webshop data
- Name, email address, delivery address and billing details for an order
- Order history and order status
- Your payment is processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card details
- Email address when subscribing to our newsletter
- Name, email address and your message if you use the contact form
3. Why do we process this data?
Emergency alarmTo immediately alert your emergency contacts with your location during an SOS alarm.
NotificationsTo inform you about alarm confirmations, pendant battery status and reminders.
EvidenceTo demonstrate that notifications were successfully sent (liability purposes).
ImprovementTo improve the app and our service based on anonymised statistics.
4. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Performance of a contract: processing your account and alarm data is necessary to deliver the service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Consent: we explicitly ask for your consent in the app before sending push notifications and sharing your location (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Legitimate interest: retaining notification metadata for liability purposes (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Vital interest: in an emergency, sharing your location may be necessary to protect your health (Art. 6(1)(d) GDPR).
5. Retention periods

After deleting your account, all personal data is deleted immediately, except for
alarm-related data, which is retained until the end of its retention period.
6. Sharing with third parties
We only share your data with the following parties, solely to deliver the service:
- Twilio: to send SMS messages to emergency contacts. Only phone numbers and message text are shared.
- Google Firebase / Expo: to send push notifications. Only the push token and message text are shared.
- Email provider: to send emails. Only the email address and message content are shared.
- Mapbox: to display the live tracking map. Location coordinates are transmitted.
- Shopify: our webshop and checkout. Processes order, customer and payment data to fulfil your order.
- Payment provider: to securely process your payment.
- Google, Meta (Instagram/Facebook) and TikTok: for website analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising — only if you consent via the cookie banner.
We never sell your data. Analytics and advertising cookies (including Google,
Meta and TikTok) are only placed with your consent; see our cookie policy for details.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Access: you can request your data via the app (Settings → Export my data) or by email.
- Rectification: you can change your name, phone number and contacts in the app.
- Erasure: you can delete your account via the app (Settings → Delete account). This removes all your data.
- Portability: you can download your data in a structured format via the data export feature.
- Objection: you can object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdrawing consent: you can always withdraw consent for location, notifications and Bluetooth via the app settings or your phone settings.

8. Security
- All communication between the app and our servers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- Passwords and login codes are stored encrypted
- Access to personal data is restricted to authorised staff
- Bluetooth communication with the pendant uses BLE with bonding/pairing
9. Children
The My Seef app is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from
children. If you discover that a child has provided data without consent, please contact us so
we can remove it.
10. Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will notify
you via the app. The most recent version is always available on this page.
11. Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we process your personal data, please contact us at
privacy@my-seef.com. You also have the right to lodge
a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) via
autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl,
or with the data protection authority in your own EU member state.
